Digital Assistive Technologies (dATs) have the potential to transform the lives of persons with
complex communication needs, especially in the form of Augmentative and Alternative
Communication (AAC) technologies. However, many people who use of AAC find it difficult to
engage in extended conversation, responding instead to questions using single words and short
utterances. We will explore areas of Artificial Intelligence and discuss the potential of AI to
support narrative within the AAC domain.
