She gained practical experience in primary schools, the Centre for Education Rijeka, and through volunteering with the Dira association and the Speech-Language Pathology Centre at the University of Rijeka. She has developed a special interest in AAC and work with children with neurodevelopmental disorders.
This session offers a insight into the therapeutic journey of a child with Childhood Apraxia of Speech. Addressing the daily challenges faced by speech-language pathologists and researchers alike - specifically the need to accurately measure, record, and quantify progress - we demonstrate a structured clinical approach to tackling these complexities.
The presentation reports on the practical application of DialoQ Talk, a high-tech Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) solution optimized for the Croatian language. We will detail how the Dynamic AAC Goals Grid (DAGG-3) was utilized to identify precise intervention targets across linguistic, social, and operational competencies. Furthermore, we will outline the creation of a clinical protocol designed to organize and implement an intensive 15-session intervention, focusing on the critical transition from isolated requests to structured interaction.
A data-driven analysis of key clinical variables - including the frequency of communication modes, the expansion of core vocabulary, and the emergence of multi-word utterances - will provide participants with evidence of progress. The session also incorporates parental feedback to validate treatment efficacy and its social validity. The presentation will be illustrated by video snippets and a five-minute documentary video that captures the real-time progression of the treatment. This visual case study offers an opportunity to witness the synergy between clinical practice and assistive technology, providing an insight into the clinical decision-making process for enhancing communicative autonomy in complex cases.
